The Cost of Politics

The Pokhara Research Centre (PRC), with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), organised a discussion on “The Cost of Politics,” drawing on findings from WFD’s research on the financial costs of political participation in Nepal at Hotel Batika, Pokhara. The session featured a presentation by Mr. Dinesh Wagle, followed by reflections from Dr. Deepak Prakash Bhatt, former Member of Parliament, House of Representatives. Participants actively engaged in the discussion, sharing perspectives on the financial barriers to political participation, inclusive representation, and Nepal’s political and electoral processes.

Pokhara Dialogue Series V1S1: Technology, Talent and Research in Nepa

Er. Bikram Adhikari, an engineer and AI professional based in Silicon Valley, joined PRC for a conversation on brain drain, the gap between academia and the job market, and how AI is changing work. The PRC team also sought his feedback on the Province Information and Engagement Portal (PIPE), including its research design and a realistic six-month scope. The session ended with a proposal for a Pokhara Reading Group to encourage critical thinking and discussion
